SCIART Launches Exciting New Opportunities for Local Emerging Artists
Studio Channel Islands Art Center (SCIART) will open Emergence, its first exhibition of the year, on Feb. 4 2023 Featuring work from Mona Saii and four pieces from the late Gerd Koch. The exhibition on display showcases various forms of visual art created by juniors, seniors, and recent graduates from local universities. The opening day ceremony will be accompanied by remarks from CSUCI President Richard Yao and Camarillo Mayor Susan Santangelo. The exhibition takes place in SCIART’s Blackboard Gallery, located at 2222 E. Ventura Blvd. in Camarillo and is free to attend.
Mona Saii is an illustrator and printmaker from Ventura County, who utilizes whimsical imagery to explore the depth of the human experience through visual storytelling. Saii encourages her audience to use her work as an invitation to ponder inwardly.
The jury for the Gerd Koch Award for Excellence will select a winner from the student work to receive the $1,000 prize. The winner of the Gerd Koch Award for Excellence, an award that aids the recipients in beginning their careers in the art world, will be chosen from among the exhibitors.
