Syncopated Ladies, the Viral Tap Dance Sensations, are Coming to The PACC in July

    Oxnard Performing Arts Center

On Sunday, July 15, they’ll be conducting a free community tap workshop from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Space is limited and reservations are required. The following Sunday, July 22, they’ll perform a stunning show at 6 p.m. for audiences of all ages. Set to today’s hottest music, Syncopated Ladies will bring fierce footwork with a fiery style that will dazzle, move and inspire attendees.

SYNCOPATED LADIES is a Female Tap Dance Band from Los Angeles, California, widely known for viral videos that have been Beyoncé approved and accumulated more than 50 million views on social media. They have been featured on “So You Think You Can Dance – Season 11” as the Winner of the First Crew Battle. Syncopated Ladies was created by critically-acclaimed tap dancer and choreographer, Chloé Arnold, who was discovered by legendary choreographer Debbie Allen. Now a leading lady of tap, Arnold has performed on stages around the globe and her choreography has been featured on hit television shows such as “Good Morning America,” “The Talk,” “The Ellen Show,” and more than 20 episodes of “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” as well as national commercials/print campaigns for brands including Special K & Macy’s.

Syncopated Ladies are best known for their viral dance videos, which feature performances to songs like Katy Perry’s “Roar,” Prince’s “When Dove’s Cry,” and Beyoncé’s “Formation.” Their latest video, Beychella, was released just this week. It was filmed at New York Fashion Week and is a tribute to Beyonce’s historic performance at Coachella.

A significant aspect of their work is paying homage to the history of tap — a dance form that allowed black performers to break boundaries throughout the 1900s.

As a group, the women continue to break the mold. They’ve bent the tap genre for today’s audiences and carved out their place in what has traditionally been a tap-dancing boys club.

The event is sponsored by KCET.
