VENICE, CA) – The Venice Historical Society will host a Venice Beach Movie Locations Walking Tour led by historian/author Harry Medved, on Sunday, September 16, 2018. The 2 plus-hour tour will start at 9:30 am in front of the Rose Café, Rose Avenue & Hampton Street (near Main Street) in Venice. Reservations are recommended. The walking tour will cost $15 for non-members and $10 VHS members.
HOLLYWOOD ESCAPES co-author Harry Medved will be leading participants to Venice historical landmarks & locations, from the days of Charlie Chaplin & Mack Sennett to Oliver Stone. Venice has been part of 100 years of filming in Los Angeles. In fact, one of the first films shot along the Los Angeles County coast, entitled A NO MAN’S LAND, was released on October 18, 1909.
Locations include The Firehouse (SPEED), On the Waterfront Café (MILLION DOLLAR BABY), Venice Suites (ROMY & MICHELE’S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION), St. Mark’s (Orson Welles’ TOUCH OF EVIL, LA STORY), James Beach (I LOVE YOU, MAN), Pacific Jewish Center (DOWN & OUT IN BEVERLY HILLS), assorted locations from THE DOORS, and the Venice Canals (ROLE MODELS, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET).
