Oxnard, CA: Art Comes Alive brings Maritime models and paintings to life with the help of live characters. Visitors have the unique opportunity to interact and speak with characters from many ages of Maritime history. Join the Channel Islands Maritime Museum on Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16, 12-4 pm as friends of the museum dress up in costume and activate the spirit of various paintings, ship models, and time periods featured in the pieces on display in the galleries. The characters brought to life will share stories and facts about the art pieces they represent, creating an exciting experience unlike any other in the hallways and galleries of the Museum.

The event is family-friendly and guests are encouraged to come in maritime-themed costumes, or as a favorite maritime character or artist!

Admission:

$10 non-members
$7 members/Seniors (62+)/military and their families/children age 12 and under
$20 for a family of four (2 Adults/2 children) (each additional child is $5)

About the Channel Islands Maritime Museum
Nestled on the coast of Southern California, in Ventura County, supported by a vibrant community of art aficionados, a steady, year-round influx of art seekers from the area, and tourists from around the world, Channel Islands Maritime Museum is perfectly poised to bring vibrant and innovative art to the forefront of the local art scene. Discover the Maritime Museum as a volunteer. Located by Oxnard’s beautiful harbor on California’s Gold Coast, 3900 Bluefin Circle, Oxnard, CA 93035. Operating hours are M/Th-Sat 10-4 pm, Sun 12-4 pm and closed Tues/ Wed for group tours and private member events. Groups of ten or more can be accommodated with 48-hours’-notice. Admission rates are free for members and children under 6, $7 adults, $5 seniors (62 plus)/military and their families/students any age with valid ID, and $3 children (ages 6-17). The museum is free on the third Thursday of every month, sponsored by Edison International. (Unfortunately, we cannot accept school or other large groups on Free Third Thursday’s.) Explore galleries full of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600s, more than seventy world-class models of historic ships, rotating thematic fine arts exhibitions, and interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to expand their horizons about everything maritime.
