Unidos Para Oxnard Presents First Annual College and Career Fair in Southwinds Park

The community group “Unidos para Oxnard, diagnosis ” will be hosting a day-long college resource fair in South Oxnard at Southwinds Park on Saturday, January 28Th, 2017. The goal of this resource fair is to empower the community to learn about college going opportunities. Parents and youth will learn about the application process and financial aid opportunities while college representatives will encourage them to pursue higher education.

“Here is a great opportunity for our families to get informed about the possibilities for higher education for their students, which leads to better jobs and a better quality of life for everyone. Please take advantage of this event.” stated Carmen Ramirez Mayor Pro Tem

The college resource fair features a wide array of support for our community. Over 20 community agencies will come out to share information for the community to learn about: Behavioral health, college outreach from universities such as Cal Lutheran, Cal State Channel Islands, and Oxnard College. Additionally, the office of Jacqui Irwin will talk about the importance of transforming our community through education. Lastly, food share will be passing out fresh fruits and veggies and will provide information about local food pantries in the area. 

The conference will take place on Saturday, January 28th, from 11:00AM-2PM at Southwinds Park located at 300 W. Clara Street Oxnard, CA 93033. Raffle prizes for participants include a $35 grocery gift card, movie tickets and college swag baskets.
