    University Symphony to perform March 4

    Concert to include music composed by local resident

    The University Symphony will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. March 4 in Samuelson Chapel at California Lutheran University.

    Samuel Grandfield, nurse a junior from Thousand Oaks who is majoring in biochemistry, for sale will play cello alongside his teacher Joyce Geeting as the University Symphony performs the Concerto for Two Cellos and Orchestra by Julius Klengel.

    The symphony will also perform “Another Waltz” by composer Craig Zobelein, no rx who lives in nearby University Village. Zobelein, who earned a teaching credential from Cal Lutheran, plays the organ, piano, accordion and guitar and has performed with the Conejo Players. The Ventura County Arts Council named Zobelein and his wife Arts Philanthropists of the Year in 2012.

    The program will also feature Haydn’s Symphony No. 99. The concert will conclude with the ultimate in Norwegian music, Grieg’s “Peer Gynt Suite No. 1.”

    Veteran faculty member Daniel Geeting will conduct.

    The chapel is located at 165 Chapel Lane on the Thousand Oaks campus.
