Volunteer to Teach English as a Second Language

Laubach Literacy was founded in 1955 by Frank Laubach, who was a missionary in the Philippines in the 1930’s.  By training volunteers and developing teaching materials Dr Laubach empowered many people around the world to improve their lives through literacy. His legacy continues.

Laubach Literacry is an all-volunteer 501(c) 3 corporation serving Ventura County for over 40 years.  They are dedicated to teaching adults 18 years and older to speak, understand, read, and write English and to familiarize them with American culture.

They offer flexible one-on-one instruction and small group instruction in English.  Tutor training and instructional materials are provided to tutors FREE of CHARGE and students are provided with appropriate learning materials. Usually, tutors meet with their students for an hour to an hour and a half per week, depending on the needs of the student and or the mutual decision made by them.
