    Westlake Village City Celebration: Triunfo YMCA’s 4th Annual Goblin Gallop: Part of Oct. 17

    medicine arial, hospital sans-serif;”>The Triunfo YMCA’s 4th Annual Goblin Gallop 5K/10K races and 1-mile Trick or Treat Fun Run/Walk will take place Saturday, October 17 as part of the City if Westlake Village’s13th annual City Celebration.

    The runs and 1-mile run/walk will begin and end at the Westlake Village Civic Center (31200 Oak Crest Dr., Westlake Village) where the city celebration takes place. Proceeds from the two runs and walk will support Triunfo YMCA teen and family programs. All participants of the 5K/10K runs are required to wear a reflective vest, light or glow gear.

    Kids participating in the Trick or Treat Fun Run/Walk can collect treats at stops along the way. They are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and should bring trick or treat bags. The run/walk begins at 4:45 p.m.

    The Goblin Gallop 10K (new this year) starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Goblin Gallop 5K begins at 5:45 p.m. Race medals will be awarded to the top male and female runners in 13 age groups.

    “We’d like all our runners and walkers to get in the spirit and where costumes,” says Chrissy Withers, Triunfo Y’s lead program director. “We’ll be holding a best costume competition for the 5K and 10K runners and walkers. Be sure to check in at the costume contest booth before your run to enter into the competition. The top five costumes judged the best will win prizes.”

    The city celebration features performances by local entertainers and a family festival with proceeds benefiting While Oak Elementary School. A magic show, sponsored by the Friends of the Westlake Village Library, will highlight the “Illusions by Oshira” at 6:00 p.m. The celebration will also feature an e-waste and shredding drop-off location presented by PC Recycle at the Farmers Insurance parking lot (31051 Agoura Rd.). Food trucks will be on hand serving dinners and snacks. Beer and wine will be available.

    Lead sponsors of the Goblin Gallop include Dole, The Walking Company, Morgan Stanley, UCLA Health and the Acorn.

    Online race and walk registration closes on Tuesday October 13 at 5:00 p.m. In person registration and race packet pick-ups are Friday, October 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the new Triunfo YMCA and Westlake Village Community Park (31105 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village) and on race day from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. onsite.

    Online registration through October 15 is $20 for the 5K run, $25 for the 10K run and $10 for the 1-mile walk/run ($25 for both 5K and 1-mile walk, $30 for both 10K and 1-mile walk). A $2.50 signup fee is applied to each online registration. Late and race day registration fees are higher. 5K/10K runners receive a race t-shirt, a goody bag and timing chip.

    The Goblin Gallop is part of the YMCA Run for Your Community series where neighboring YMCA branches host runs throughout the year (including the Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park’s July 4th run and Conejo Valley YMCA Turkey Day Dash on Thanksgiving Day). Runners who participate in all three runs receive a free long sleeve tech shirt with the series logo.
