Winter Solstice 2017 | Deep in the Dark of the Longest Night

The Universalist Unitarian Church of Santa Paula presents a Winter Solstice Celebration on Thursday, December 21 at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary of the church. The church is located at 740 E Main Street in Santa Paula. “A Winter Solstice Singing Ritual” is a celebration of the Darkness and the Light with Songs and Stories adapted from Julie Forest Middleton and Stasa Morgan-Appel. Solstice is a planetary-wide celebration of the longest night and the returning of the Light. Many religions have a Sun Child born at this time of year. We celebrate Solstice by going down into the darkness, getting quiet, becoming empty, and then receiving the Light. This is participatory, non-denominational ritual. The Solstice Singers will be directed by Maddie Sifantus. The Narrator will be Allan Noel. Harp will be played by John Robles.

The Universalist Unitarian Church of Santa Paula has been home to a number of musical events throughout its history. Admission is FREE. UUCSP is a registered Ventura County Historical Landmark. For more information about the venue, call 805-525-4647 or email [email protected]. Parking is on the street, in the lot at the library or behind the church.
