Thousand Oaks, Calif.–Youth Sports Extravaganza–Give Back Games, a community youth multi-sport event and fundraiser, will be held Saturday, March 24 at California Lutheran University (CLU) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Presented by Kiwanis of Thousand Oaks Charitable Foundation in partnership with the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, over 1,000 youth and their families are expected to attend. Sponsors are Pacific Western Bank, Sports Academy, Westlake Athletic Club, Shoppes Westlake Village, Dick’s Sporting Goods and The Acorn.
Kids can participate in all-day indoor and outdoor sport contests and clinics in basketball, football and soccer with professional guidance and direction from CLU’s athletic coaches and staff as well as professional sport trainers from the Sports Academy and Westlake Athletic Club. Competition takes place at CLU’s Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center and William Roland Stadium.
Youth from ages 6 to 18 are eligible and will be divided into four age groups to assure fair and comfortable competition. They’ll compete continuously for prizes in nine different sport contests (three for each sport). Colored wristband will allow kids to move around freely and compete in all nine contests throughout the day.
Over 70 prizes, donated by Sports Academy and Westlake Athletic Club, will be awarded to winners. As in past years, attendees can enjoy all day Community Competition Basketball Games (Ventura County Sheriff’s Dept. vs. Fire Dept., Kiwanis vs. Rotary Clubs, Wells Fargo vs. Bank of America) in CLU’s Gilbert Basketball Arena–for community bragging rights.
The “TNT Dunk Squad” www.tntdunksquad.com, a crowd favorite at Los Angeles Clippers games, will be performing at noon. Also on hand will be vendor and food booths and a sports oriented silent auction.
The proceeds of this fundraiser will go to youth organizations and schools throughout the community through activities of both Kiwanis and the YMCA.
Advance tickets are $15 per person ($20 day-of) and $40 for a family (parents and their kids) up to five family members ($50 at the door), which includes unlimited contest participation. A liability release form must be signed with registration.
