Exhibit Opening Includes Fund Raising to benefit Red Cross and Fire Relief Efforts

Camarillo, Calif.–The new year opens at Studio Channel Islands (SCI) with its newest exhibition, Triangulation, Jan. 2, featuring exciting works by watercolorist Joe Cibere, abstract painter Avery Falkner and sculptor Blossom Friel. The opening reception will be held from 4–6 p.m., Jan. 6 at SCI’s Blackboard Gallery, 2222 E. Ventura Blvd, Camarillo, and will feature a fundraiser for victims of the Thomas Fire. SCI will offer for sale a limited number of hand-crafted necklaces by artist, Fran Elson, with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to the Red Cross to help with the fire relief efforts. Each of the uniquely-designed pieces will be based on an original artwork and will be available for $50. There will be 50 necklaces available at the opening reception.

           

Included in the exhibit will be a series of watercolorworks depicting the wildfires by award-winning artist Joe Cibere. Cibere will lead a workshop on techniques of painting fire, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Jan. 6, in his studio on the SCI Campus. This cost for the workshop is $75.

The opening reception takes place on the first Saturday of the month which is Open Studio day at SCI.  As many as 40 of the very best artists will welcome visitors into their studios to watch them create sculptures, paintings and multimedia pieces up-close and personal. Admission is free and there is ample free parking. The Triangulation exhibit will be on display through Jan. 27.
