“Gary Stewart, the owner and wine maker at Four Brix Winery, wanted to bottle a second label and asked Tom Hilton and me to be part of the new undertaking.” said Sandy Seekins, co-owner of BlendZ. “Tom is really into 60?s and 70?s music and I felt the vibe with each brush stroke when I created the labels for our wines. It was a match made in nostalgia heaven!”

Tom’s wife Carol and their daughter Nicole combined their creativity to create a truly nostalgic experience. The “Flower Power” vibe is a huge part of the ambiance of the winery. Music of the 60’s and 70’s “rocks on” throughout the tasting room that is decorated with actual 33-1/3 album covers of artists from those turbulent times. Memories of times gone by are kept very much alive in the music from bands like Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull and artists Elton John and “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen.

“We named each wine for an artist or a band,” Sandy explained. “Our 2010 ‘Imagine’ is a red varietal blend named for John Lennon’s hit. The 2010 Pinot Noir is named ‘Scarlet Begonias’ after The Grateful Dead-Janis Joplin’s song.”

Other selections on the BlendZ flight includes a 2013 Grenache Blanc called “Half Moon”, a 2011 Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot blend called “Celebration Day” and a 2011 Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah with a touch of Viognier blend that’s appropriately named “Dazed and Confused”.

Continuing the 60’s theme, they used refurbished wood from pallets to accent the walls and tie-dyed them with psychedelic colors. The “V” finger peace sign logo was constructed from strung yarn.

Contrary to the Rolling Stones hit, you CAN get Satisfaction at BlendZ Winery, only you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Sandy created a beautiful design for the new label which adorn the newest selection’s bottle containing six different varietals that will come together for a truly mind-blowing wine tasting experience!
