    For the March 2, 2020, meeting of IWOSC/SPAWN Ventura County, the speaker is best-selling author, publisher, and writing coach, Ina Hillebrandt. She will be speaking on the topic of “Beat Writer’s Block: Motivational Tools to Finish that Manuscript.” Ina’s success has opened her up to the unique opportunity to teach others. She will cover in her talk how to reignite that spark.  She’ll get you fired up to complete that manuscript you feel compelled to write.  
     
    This discussion is an opportunity to get refocused. Whether you are trying to get through your first book, have multiple books published, or you sit somewhere in between. Ina’s proven techniques will motivate you, giving you practical tips to create more compelling stories across genre. 

    Some of the topics she’ll be tackling:

    • Themes and Structure: a variety of hooks to draw your readers in 
    • Dialog: adding life and spice to your writing
    • Character: ways to give dimension to the people portrayed
    • Detail De-rail: how much is too much, when do you need to add more detail, and how can you handle adding/removing?
    • Motivation tips to keep you at it! 

    IWOSC/SPAWN Writers’ Meeting is a joint gathering for writers, authors, and book lovers presented by the Independent Writers of Southern California (IWOSC) and the Small Publishers, Artists & Writers Network (SPAWN) a national literary nonprofit based in Ojai, CA.
     
    The meeting will be held on March 2, 2020, at the Goebel Adult Center, 1385 E Janss Rd. Thousand Oaks, CA 91362, from 6:30 to 8 pm. The fee is $5 at the door. Refreshments available, so plan to come early and meet other area writers.

    ABOUT THE SPEAKER…
    Ina Hillebrandt is a bestselling author and publisher, writing coach, editor, and speaker/trainer. She works with individuals and groups. Clients have included Fortune 500 companies such as IBM and leading nonprofits, including the Jane Goodall Institute.
