cialis arial, stuff sans-serif;”>Superior Court Judge David Hirsch sentenced Michelle Dian Filkins (DOB 5/14/63), of Port Hueneme, to five years felony probation and 365 days in the Ventura County jail for her role in the heroin overdose death of Oxnard resident Armando Patrick Serna. Filkins had previously pleaded guilty to furnishing heroin and admitted a special allegation she personally inflicted great bodily injury during the commission of the offense.

The charges arose after investigators from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit responded to the heroin overdose death of Mr. Serna in the unincorporated area of Silver Strand Beach on June 27, 2015. Filkins admitted to investigators that she provided heroin to Mr. Serna, who injected himself before he stopped breathing and died.

The Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is comprised of investigators from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, the Simi Valley Police Department, and the Medical Board of California.
