Crew free Pair trapped in car rolled over and on fire near 126 FWY
On July 14th, Thursday 7:10pm at the east bound 126 Freeway and Wells Road, Ventura City Fire crews responded to a reported traffic collision with people trapped inside a vehicle that had rolled over.
The first arriving engine company found a compact sedan off the roadway, upside down with major damage and two victims trapped inside. There was an active fire in the engine’s compartment.
Hose lines were used to suppress the fire while the passenger was quickly removed from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital via ambulance. Due to the extent of entanglement within the wreckage, extrication of the driver required a prolonged rescue operation involving the use of several different hydraulic and electric rescue tools. After successful extrication the driver was also transported. No other injuries were reported at the time of this release.
