On Wednesday, 11/25/20 at approximately 1418 hours Officer’s with the Santa Paula Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit were on patrol in the 800 block of E. Pleasant Street when they observed Jesus Patino a documented Crimies gang member. Officer’s attempted to contact Patino and take him into custody on an outstanding felony no bail warrant associated with a prior firearms related case. Patino proceeded to flee from Officer’s and a short foot pursuit ensued that led into nearby residences in the 800 block of E. Santa Paula Street. During the foot pursuit Officer’s located a loaded .357 revolver lying on the street near where the foot pursuit had been initiated.

The Ventura Police Department K-9 Unit and the Santa Paula Police Department K-9 Unit were in the city of Santa Paula at the time of this incident and attending a training session at a nearby facility. With the assistance from the Santa Paula Police Department K-9 Unit the crawlspace under the home was checked. Patino was found to be hiding under the residence by a Santa Paula Police Department K-9, and was apprehended and taken into custody.

Patino was checked on scene by the Ventura County Fire Department and AMR. Patino was transported to Santa Paula Hospital for a medical clearance and later transported to the Ventura County Mail Jail on his outstanding warrant. At this time the investigation into the recovered firearm is active and ongoing.
