erectile times; font-size: 12pt;”>Ventura City Fire Department began receiving multiple 911 calls at 12:30pm Sunday afternoon, reporting a fire burning in the Ventura river bottom adjacent to the Ventura County Fair Grounds. First arriving crews found a 40’ x 40’ fire burning in a homeless encampment and the surrounding arundo vegetation. Crews made access to the fire and extinguished it. A Ventura County Fire Department hand crew was requested and assisted with controlling the perimeter of the extinguished fire.

Train traffic was briefly halted due to the proximity of the fire and the associated firefighting operations. Traffic on the 101 freeway was also impacted for a short time due to the smoke production from the fire. No firefighters were injured as a result of this incident.
