Firefighters stomp out blaze at Ventura apartment

story times; font-size: 16px;”>At 4am Sunday morning the Ventura City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of south Santa Cruz Street. When firefighters  arrived at the scene they found heavy smoke coming from the second story of a two unit multi-family two-story building. Firefighters confirmed that all occupants were out of the structure while they worked to put out the blaze. The seat of the fire was found to be in the rear of the second-story apartment in a laundry room. Firefighters extinguished the fire in coordination with other crews protecting property in the downstairs unit. 

No firefighters were injured as a result of this incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
