Former Congressmen Stand with U.S. Naval Officer Mike Garcia in Upcoming Special Election.

(Santa Clarita) – Today, former local Congressmen Elton Gallegly and Howard “Buck” McKeon announced their support in the upcoming special election for California’s 25th Congressional District which includes the Santa Clarita, Simi, and Antelope Valleys.

Affirming his support, Congressman Elton Gallegly who represented the area for over twenty-five years (1987-2013) said “Mike Garcia is a breath of fresh air and the brightest candidate I’ve seen in a long time. I will continue to support him 100%”.

Serving the community from 1993-2013, Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon continued his support of Mike Garcia’s candidacy. “Our community needs a leader in the race for Congress, and we have that in Mike Garcia. The unparalleled fight and determination, the same honesty and integrity that I saw in Mike when I recommended him to the Naval Academy twenty-five years ago is what I’ve witnessed from him as the top Republican candidate for Congress for our district,” said McKeon.

Furthermore, McKeon commented “Service to country isn’t just a value in which Mike believes, it’s what he’s lived as a fighter pilot and Naval Officer. Mike Garcia has honorably served and defended us in battle, and he’s ready to take that fight to Washington. He is the leader we need now more than ever.”

Humbled by their support, Garcia stated “Congressmen Gallegly and McKeon have served us well, and I’m proud to have their endorsement.”

“We’ve been running a strong campaign since day one regardless of who may or may not be in the race and will continue doing so,” said Garcia. “I’m a Navy fighter pilot who has led men into battle and defended our nation on the frontlines. I will take that same fight to Congress to defend freedom and protect against the radical socialist agenda those on the extreme left repeatedly push and.”

Since announcing for Congress in April 2019, former U.S. Navy Fighter Pilot and Office has raised over $525,000 from more than 3,000 contributors. Garcia has received support from over 20 current and former elected officials including Governor Pete Wilson, 150 veterans across the district, and approximately 200 volunteers and community leaders
Mike Garcia believes in a strong national defense and is a pro-business, pro-taxpayer, political outsider with nearly 20 years of service to this country as one of the first Super Hornet strike fighter pilots in the Navy and is a highly decorated US Naval Officer.  Garcia is a first-generation American whose father immigrated to the US in 1959 and has lived in the 25th district for nearly all of his life.  Garcia lives in Santa Clarita with his wife and two sons. He was recently named to the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Young Guns program as one of the top 40 GOP candidates in the country.

The 25th district encompasses the cities of Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster and the northern part of the San Fernando Valley.  The median income is $76,866 and the ethnic breakdown is 45.8% White, 8% Black, 7.7% Asian and 35.3% Hispanic.  The only Democrat, prior to 2018, to carry the district in the last 18 years was Obama, by less than 1%.
