Former Navy Fighter Pilot Mike Garcia Releases Video, “A Patriot’s Call to Serve Again”

(Santa Clarita, CA) – Today, former Navy Fighter Pilot and current candidate for Congress Mike Garcia released a video titled “A Patriot’s Call to Serve Again.” The video is a biographical feature which details the decision for Garcia, a decorated U.S. Naval Officer, to run for Congress and outlines his vision for serving the district.

“I’m a first-generation American whose family immigrated legally to this country because it’s the greatest nation on earth, full of hope, promise, and opportunity,” said Mike Garcia. “Ever since I was young growing up in this community, I felt the call to serve and had the privilege to do so in the United States Navy for nearly twenty years. Seeing Katie Hill and her colleagues try to enact socialist policies that undo the very freedoms my brothers-in-arms and I fought to protect, I hear the call to serve again and would be honored to do so.”

Since announcing his candidacy in April, Mike Garcia has consolidated support from around the district. Garcia is the top fundraiser in the race and has received endorsements from former Governor Pete Wilson, former Congressmen Elton Gallegly and Howard “Buck” McKeon, eighteen current and former elected officials, and over one hundred thirty veterans.

Mike Garcia believes in a strong national defense and is a pro-business, pro-taxpayer, political outsider with nearly 20 years of service to this country as one of the first Super Hornet strike fighter pilots in the Navy and is a highly decorated US Naval Officer.  Garcia is a first-generation American whose father immigrated to the US in 1959 and has lived in the 25th district for nearly all of his life.  Garcia lives in Santa Clarita with his wife and two sons. He was recently named to the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Young Guns program as one of the top 40 GOP candidates in the country.

The 25th district encompasses the cities of Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster and the northern part of the San Fernando Valley. The median income is $76,866 and the ethnic breakdown is 45.8% White, 8% Black, 7.7% Asian and 35.3% Hispanic.  The only Democrat, prior to 2018, to carry the district in the last 18 years was Obama, by less than 1%.

I’m Mike Garcia and I approve this message.

I was raised in this district. As a kid I played in those mountains and all that down below was onion fields. From onion fields to this, pretty incredible huh?

Since I was 7 years old, I dreamed of being a Navy fighter pilot.

My dad and grandparents immigrated from Mexico when my dad was 9.

I left the twenty-fifth district in 1994 to serve my nation.

I was blessed to attend the US Naval academy and fly combat missions over Iraq as an F-18 pilot.

I came home in 2009 because there is no better place to live in this world.

After 10 years of a career in real estate and aerospace, I am called again to serve my nation; this time in Congress.

I am running to ensure that our nation and our district don’t fall victim to the socialists and far left Democrat policies that have devastated so much of our state.

I want to serve again to ensure that our values and our children’s futures are secure.

I want to know that my sons will grow up in a free country where hard work, discipline and success are rewarded and not punished.

A country that takes pride in its history and invests in its future. A country that honors its Constitution, capitalism, and competition where God, country, and family are still held sacred.

I grew up in a middle-class family where we had to earn everything that we received.

My stepdad was an LAPD officer, and I learned at a young age that hard work and discipline mattered.

There are no handouts in life, and there are no guarantees for success or happiness you have to work for it.

So I worked hard, and I graduated near the top of my class at Saugus High School.

My stepdad taught me how to shoot, and I shot rifle and high-powered rifle at Annapolis.

Getting an appointment to Annapolis was a dream come true, and I worked hard and graduated in the top 3% of the Naval Academy class of 1998.

I kept working hard, and I earned a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University, then spent two years in intense military flight training.

I worked hard to get perfect scores in advanced jet training, and I graduated number one from flight school. I earned a spot flying the F-18 super hornet.

I got to fly jets from an aircraft carrier. My dream had come true.

I flew over 30 combat missions from the deck of the USS Nimitz during operation Iraqi freedom.

I was honored to serve. I was willing to lay down my life for my country.

I lost good buddies who laid down theirs and I will never forget them. I was blessed to come home.

God blessed me with the family of my dreams. That’s my wife Rebecca and yes, I married up.

I want my boys to have the same opportunities that I had but I’d love it if they didn’t have to go off to war.

I want to see Reagan’s dream of Peace through Strength realized.

I want to see them living in peace and hard-earned prosperity while Becca and I play with our grandkids.

It’d be easy for me to spend the rest of my life working at a job that I love and spending every free moment with my family, but I took an oath to defend the constitution and that oath didn’t come off with the uniform.

America’s at a dangerous crossroad. We’re at turning point in history.

Do we move forward with national pride into a future of greater peace, bigger and more diverse prosperity for all Americans or do we allow our nation to forget our history and degrade into a state of failed socialism?

That is not the dream of my father, and it isn’t the future that I want to leave for my sons.

That’s why I’m leaving my job to run for congress.

It won’t be easy on my family but it’s something we will go through together.

I don’t want to see people lose their pensions.

We need to protect our economy at the national level to ensure California pensions remain viable.

National security begins at our border. A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.

Our borders are out of control; we need to secure our border.

We need to end the human trafficking nightmare.

We need effective and affordable health care for Americans, and I see a free market path to making that happen.

We need a fully funded five-year defense plan.

We need to take care of our veterans.

I have been blessed with a great family, parents and friends, but we’re danger close to losing the America we love I’m compelled to keep fighting for even if it means going to D.C.

I’m Mike Garcia I’m running for congress and I approve this message.
