Former Oxnard official Will Reed arrested for theft of HUD funds
Seen today. Not really a press release, but an internal memo from Oxnard City Manager Greg Nyhoff, which we should all know about ….
Mayor and Councilmembers,
I would like to inform you that Will Reed a former city employee who oversaw the homelessness services was arrested earlier today. Los Angeles HUD-OIG Special Agents along with U.S. Marshals arrested former Oxnard Housing Department employee Will Reed in Las Vegas on several felony counts of fraud, associated with the theft of HUD ESG funds. Reed is currently incarcerated in the Clark County Detention Center pending extradition back to Ventura County. He has been charged in Ventura County Superior Court with the following crimes:
1. Misappropriation of public money by a public official – California Penal Code Section 424(a)(1)
2. Keeping False Account – California Penal Code Section 424(a)(3)
3. Destruction of Account – California Penal Code Section 424(a)(4)
4. Grand Theft – California Penal Code Section 487(b)(3)
