Free Virtual Homeownership Conference for Locals

Ventura County Community Development Corporation (VCCDC) is hosting its eagerly anticipated 9th Annual Homeownership Conference for the community on Saturday, June 26, sponsored by Union Bank and others. With the huge success and record attendance of last year’s virtual event, VCCDC’s Homeownership Conference will be online once again. This year, the conference theme is “Homeownership Within Reach”, providing families across California with hope for the future and giving them the best guidance and practical tools to help them achieve their dream of owning or maintaining their own home.

VCCDC’s mission is to empower low-to-moderate income individuals and families to build wealth through education and homeownership. COVID-19 has exacerbated what was already a housing crisis and with families facing additional economic hardship from lost wages, VCCDC’s work is more vital than ever. Brand new VCCDC Homeowners, Mario and Alyssa, will be in attendance to encourage other families that buying a home is within reach, having just closed on their Ventura home last month thanks to $57,000 in down payment assistance.

Our 9th annual Homeownership Conference has grown from being Ventura County’s largest homeownership event to a can’t-miss conference for homebuyers and homeowners across Southern California,” says Bertha Garcia, VCCDC Executive Director. “Coming out of a challenging year for everyone, our goal is for each attendee to leave inspired and equipped to begin or continue their path toward homeownership.”

VCCDC is excited to announce that this year’s Keynote Speaker will be Fiona Ma, California State Treasurer. Ma has had a renowned career in public service, having been involved with many initiatives and committees in California’s government. She was elected on November 6, 2018 with more votes (7,825,587) than any other candidate for treasurer in the state’s history. She is the first woman of color and the first woman Certified Public Accountant (CPA) elected to the position.

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit virtual exhibitor booths and access:

    • Thousands of dollars in down-payment assistance
    • Must-have info at virtual workshops
    • Real-time networking with other homebuyers and homeowners
    • Live expert advice from industry experts (for free)
    • Other valuable community resources

VCCDC’s conference will be held LIVE on the award-winning online platform, Whova.
