On June 24, 2019, a Thousand Oaks Police Department Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by four subjects who were suspected of committing two robberies at different stores in Ventura County. After an investigation, all four suspects were determined to be members of a criminal street gang out of Los Angeles and were arrested.

At about 1:30 PM, three suspects entered the Dick’s Sporting Goods in Thousand Oaks. An employee observed them and believed they were acting in a manner consistent with organized retail theft. The suspects began grabbing multiple clothing items off the rack. An employee approached the three subjects and asked if she could help with any of the items, as she reached for the clothing. One of the suspects threatened to assault the employee.

Another employee approached the same suspects and offered to help with the items. One suspect pushed the employee away and all three quickly walked towards the front door, but dropped the items before exiting. The suspects left in a blue Chevrolet Malibu with paper plates.

The suspects drove to another Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Oxnard, but were turned away at the door, due to good communications between the businesses. The suspects were not deterred and forcibly stole an uninvolved woman’s purse as they went back to their car. The suspects fled the scene southbound on the US 101 freeway.

At about 2:15 PM, a Thousand Oaks Police Department Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. The four suspects were detained and the investigation confirmed they were the robbery suspects at both locations.

All four suspects were arrested for PC 211 – Robbery, PC 186.22(A) – Participation in a Criminal Street Gang, and PC 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. Three of the juvenile suspects were lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center and the female adult suspect was booked at the Pre- Trial Detention Facility with a bail amount of $100,000.
