Garcia Speaks At Project Sebastian Rare Warrior 5 x 5 Race Ror Rare Diseases

Santa Clarita, CA – Congressman Mike Garcia today spoke at the Rare Warrior 5 x 5 Race hosted by Project Sebastian, a local non-profit. Project Sebastian is run by Chris Velona, a father whose son was diagnosed with a form of Batten Disease, and is dedicated to supporting individuals suffering from rare diseases. The event, sponsored by the Garcia campaign, featured a 5k race along with a 5-mile fun run aimed at raising awareness for rare diseases.

“All too often, folks with rare diseases don’t know where to turn to find the path forward,” said Garcia. “I’m proud of the work Project Sebastian is doing to bring community support to those who are struggling. It is crucial that we support the people suffering from rare diseases, raise awareness for these conditions, and continue to fight for cures.”

Today’s event is Garcia’s latest effort to support those in his district who suffer from serious diseases. Garcia has led a blood drive, personally donated to Santa Clarita cancer charity Circle of Hope, and worked in Congress to secure funding to fight neurodegenerative diseases.
