    Ghost Gun and Narcotics Bust

    Press Release

Nature of Incident: Post Release Offender Arrested for Illegal Firearms/Narcotics Sales
    Report Number: 21-82477
Location: 1500 Block of Pine Street, Oxnard
    Date & Time: 6/23/2021 @ 4:00 PM
Unit(s) Responsible: Ventura County Post Release Offender Supervision (PROS) Unit and
    Sheriff’s Gang Unit
Suspect: David Mosqueda, Oxnard resident, 51 years old
    Narrative:
On June 23, 2021, members of the Ventura County Post Release Offender Supervision Unit
contacted and arrested David Mosqueda for possession of unregistered firearms and narcotics
    sales.

The PROS Unit went to the 1500 Block of Pine Street in Oxnard to conduct a compliance check of
Post Release Offender David Mosqueda, who is supervised by the Ventura County Probation
Agency. Probation officers contacted Mosqueda inside the business where he lives and works.
During a search, officers located methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and evidence supporting
narcotics sales. Additionally, officers located an unregistered firearm and a short-barreled shotgun.
The firearm located is commonly referred to as a “Ghost Gun” due to the lack of commercial serial
number, which makes the firearm untraceable and allows the possessor to circumvent regulated
background checks by the Department of Justice. Mosqueda’s past criminal history prohibits him
from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition.
Mosqueda was arrested and detectives with the Sheriff’s Gang Unit assisted at the scene.
Detectives obtained a search warrant to search the remainder of the business. Detectives seized
an additional unregistered firearm, ammunition, and prescription pills. Mosqueda was booked at
the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is awaiting court proceedings.

The Ventura County Post Release Offender Supervision Unit is comprised of Deputy Probation
officers from the Ventura County Probation Agency, a Ventura Police Department officer, a Simi
Valley Police Department officer, and a deputy sheriff with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
