GOD BLESS AMERICA! And thank you God, for blessing me with the privilege of being born an American. I am grateful everyday for this beautiful country. With whatever faults and flaws she may have, she is still the best country in the world. She has still done more good than bad. And she was founded by men who wanted what was best for all who lived here.
Today I read our Declaration of Independence again. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
I find it impossible to ignore on this celebration of our Independence that those rights are again under fire. The Declaration lists the ways the King was threatening the rights of the colonists. While reading their grievances I realized many of them are happening to us now. How the King used judges dependent on him to impose his will on us (Obama judges imposing injunctions on everything Trump does), how the King called for meetings at places and times people would find difficult to attend, how the King ignored laws passed by colonists and refused to pass necessary laws unless they gave up their right to representation, how he established new offices and sent hordes to harass the people (bureaucracies, regulations), protecting criminals from punishment (illegal aliens), abolishing our most valuable laws (lowering felonies to misdemeanors), and waging war against us (ANTIFA), etc.
The original Declaration of Independence included a section on the need to end slavery written by Thomas Jefferson (you know, the founder being demonized for owning slaves he inherited). That Declaration was passed by all but three colonies. Since it had to be unanimous, that section was removed and all colonies then passed it. If this fact was included in our schools history lessons I doubt there would be such hatred for our founding that exists today.
I’ve been listening to the Left criticize President Trump for the Fourth of July festivities he has planned. They say it’s about him, not the country. They say it will cost millions. This from people who have no problem spending money. No problem promising Medicare for all, free healthcare for illegal aliens, forgiving college loans, promising free college, etc, etc. And who had no problem with Obama delivering pallets of money to the #1 Terrorist country. And, by the way, their estimates of the cost of the celebration neglect to mention the fireworks have been donated and the military are on duty so they are already being paid.
The Left are having an emotional meltdown over this celebration. They must find a way to demonize everything this President does. Every Liberal media outlet is shocked about tanks “driving down the street”, about the Air Force fly over. They say this has never happened before. It’s a Kim Jong-Un type of display. Apparently, they think we have a short memory. Clinton had a fly over for his inauguration. In 1991 81 planes flew over including a Stealth Jet. A simple internet search will show you numerous military parades in DC. If we had an honest media they would point this out.
President Trump is scheduled to give a speech at the Lincoln Memorial. He said it won’t be political. But the Democrats are demanding equal time. Since when did a rebuttal become a requirement for every speech President Trump gives? In fact, President Obama used one of his 4th of July speeches to push for amnesty for illegal aliens. Can’t the Left just let us have a happy 4th of July? Can’t we put aside politics for just one day?
I love the 4th of July, I love this country. I don’t care if that offends anyone. I am offended everyday by people who are offended by our flag, our anthem and traditions. Why is their offense more important then mine? GOD BLESS AMERICA!
