Goleta Resident Arrested for Luring Minor via Internet Chat

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that William Fred White (DOB 11/02/56) was arrested on Friday in the city of Ventura for arranging to meet a child for the purposes of committing sexual acts. He was arrested after an investigation led by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation which is assigned to the Ventura County branch of the Southern California High Tech Task Force.

White, a Goleta resident, engaged in an online chat with a female whom he believed to be a 15-year-old child. He arranged to meet that child at a public place and pick her up in his vehicle for the purposes of committing sexual acts with the child. At the specified date and time, White arrived at the prearranged location and was taken into custody.  White was booked into Ventura County jail for various charges including felony child luring (Penal Code § 288.4(b)) and sending harmful matter to a child (Penal Code § 288.2(a)).

It is suspected that White has had improper contact with other children prior to his arrest. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is encouraged to contact District Attorney Investigator Terrance Dobrosky at (805) 383-4789 or via email at [email protected]
