– Announced candidates- Mayor- Tim Flynn, Bryan MacDonald, Larry Stein; City Council: Aaron Starr, Steve Huber. Maybe: Irene Pinkard.
– Good news- Oxnard has resolved to streamline process for business license and construction permits. George Sorkin and others claim that Oxnard is THE hardest place anywhere to get a permit- 7 visits.
– Most have heard of the tragic Limon killing. Some community activists are demanding formation of a police review board, but also demanding policy and procedure setting rights, claiming that the PD is “an occupying power.” People from all walks have life have expressed concern about the situation, including several at last night’s City Council meeting
– More good news- Oxnard will contract to get ebooks on line with “free” downloads for next five years. Of course, not really “free,” since we’re paying $58,000 for the privilege- let’s take advantage of it. Books ALWAYS in stock!
