– Salsa Festival a huge success. Concerts in the park season on- Heritage Square- Fri 6, Channel Islands Harbor -Sat. 4, The Collection Sunday 6PM.

– Councilman Bert Perello made serious allegations related to Public Works, reiterates call for whistleblower protection. Desalter downtime ($8-24MM), poor maintenance, delays. Sand or toxic substances from feeder tank used for leaching, oil industry. 4.5- 7million gallons daily, $700 ac/ft difference.

– City Council votes to extend power plant construction moratorium 10 months. Council stands firm on moratorium, vows to get power plants out, flummoxed by challenge of demolishing old plants, remediation. NRG threatens to keep old plants. Plant opponents cite aesthetics, land utilization, health hazards, wildlife. Proponents cite safety, cleanliness, efficiency, cost, land use, security, jobs, revenue.

– City Council resolves mandatory restrictions on water usage, starting August 1. Water usage actually up. New restrictions, sanctions, incentives, publicity.

– Ventura County Fair underway now
