Governor Brown Should VETO SB 4 Senator Ricardo Lara’s Bill Health For All
find arial,sans-serif;”>Senator Ricardo Lara is the author of SB 4 Health For All that would entitle those 19 years and younger who are illegally living in California to apply for Medi-Cal. In regard to this legislation, Governor Brown has already allotted $132 million dollars per year in the California State Budget that entitles children illegally living in California Medi-Cal benefits.
“California cannot sustain the current population on Medi-Cal. It is outrageous that those illegally in California will be vying for these scarce medical funds,” Robin Hvidston, Executive Director for We The People Rising and CA Director for The Remembrance Project, said. “Citizens in dire need of medical services should be the focus of legislation and the budget, not those in the state illegally. Every tax dollar that SB 4 would expend on those illegally present, should be expended on U.S. kids – foster kids and homeless families, as well as our veterans.”
Hvidston and coalitions statewide are contacting Governor Brown and urging him to Veto SB 4.
“Citizens are calling, tweeting and posting on Facebook, telling Governor Brown to Veto SB 4,” Hvidston said. “Unfortunately the State Legislators passed SB 4 when their focus should have been on assisting U.S. citizens – veterans, unemployed and disabled American citizens.”
The governor has a slew of bills on his desk, including multiple bills that would benefit those individuals unlawfully present.
“Citizens of California are urging Governor Brown to do the right thing. Change course and focus on American citizens – and veto SB 4,” Hvidston said.
