Help with the jail break–Feline Friday at Ventura County Animal Shelter–all cats $5

Tara Diller, Director for Ventura County Animal Shelter, did a short presentation at the Monday, August, 25th, Simi Valley Council meeting.  The department is attempting to make their shelters, no killed.  On January 2014 their adoption rate went up to 92%, meaning they will be placing over 11,000 animals in their forever homes by the end of the year.  This is a change in the department from just being a pound to becoming a true animal shelter.

One of the programs they have is Hound on the Town. Volunteers put on vests and take the animals out into the public to bring up the adoption rate.  The newly renovated shelter in Simi Valley is now an adoption center, not just for intake.  They have no marketing budget from the County and rely on word of mouth, their partners such as Theresa’s Country Feed Store in Simi and they are active on social media (their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/VCAnimalServices ) and they run specials such as Feline Friday.

This Friday, August 29th, is Feline Friday at the Shelter – $5 for everything to adopt a cat or kitten.  So if you have been thinking of getting a furry pal, this Friday may just be the ticket.
