Hillcrest Center for the Arts Presents Live Stand-up Drive-in or Streaming Comedy

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Live Standup Comedy on the Hill returns Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the 8:00 pm.  A BRAND NEW GIANT 40-Foot Inflatable Screen will reflect the projection of the Drive-In Edition to those in the parking lot of Conejo Creek South at 1300 E Janss Rd in Thousand Oaks, California.  Audience members can enjoy this setting with sound from their car’s FM Radio, or they can stay at home and attend via Zoom or YouTube Live.  January’s lineup includes Dwayne Perkins, Andy Hendrickson, Karen Rontowski and Forrest Shaw.  Professional local comedian Jason Love hosts and produces this monthly show in collaboration with the Hillcrest Center for the Arts.    The brand new screen is a professional drive-in inflatable screen, forty feet wide by 22 feet high.  The bottom of the screen sits ten feet above the ground to afford a perfect view for all cars to see the entire screen.  In from of the screen is a stage for the comics to perform live in addition to their projections.  Audience members are encouraged to honk their horns so the comics can hear the “laughter”.  Those who choose to watch from their homes may laugh or chat with fellow audience members or via YouTube Live.

Karen Rontowski has a fast-paced, quirky and charmingly optimistic comedy style.  She blends self-effacing and intelligent characters with her experience as a Paranormal Investigator, fascinated with the “afterlife”.  Karen has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Sirius Satellite Radio, Comics Unleashed, Comedy.com, Live at Gotham, Comedy Central and Mysteries of the Unexplained.  You can see her new special called “Ridiculous Me” on VidAngel.com.

Andy Hendrickson is a comedian, writer and actor that built his career in New York City. He now resides in Los Angeles. For 15 years he has been using a conversational style and material based on real life experiences.  He’s had multiple TV appearances including: The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Gotham Comedy Live and NBC/Seeso’s The Guest List.  Internationally, Andy has performed at clubs and festivals throughout the world, including Canada, England, Holland and Ireland.  He also performed for our troops on Outback’s Feeding Freedom Tour that provided entertainment for the troops on military bases across Afghanistan.  His comedy CD “Underachiever” recently released to rave reviews and debuted in the iTunes Top 10.

Forrest Shaw is a stand up comedian and writer (The Jim Jefferies Show). His stand-up has been featured on Conan and Live at Gotham. As an actor he has appeared on FX (Legit), Comedy Central (The Jim Jefferies Show), and Animal Planet (Swamp Wars). His album Mister Grizzly, recorded with Comedy Records, can be heard on Sirius/XM Satellite radio, Pandora, and Spotify. He is co-host of The Jim Jefferies Show Podcast. Forrest is also co-writer (and lead actor) of the award-winning web series, Labor Days. Producer and host Jason Love has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, America’s Got Talent, and over 20 national broadcasts.   He has performed overseas for the troops and on the seas for cruise lines, and was a finalist at the Cabo Comedy Festival.  Jason’s non-profit, Love & Laughter, brings free shows to cancer support communities and others in need.
