Hillcrest Center For The Arts Presents Live Standup Comedy On The Hill

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Live Standup Comedy on the Hill returns Saturday, April 13 at 8:00 pm at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Dr, across from The Oaks Mall.  April’s lineup includes Danny Jolles and Omar Covarrubias.  Professional local comedian Jason Love produces this monthly show in collaboration with the Hillcrest Center for the Arts. The show features a new lineup each month with some of Hollywood’s funniest headliners.   All shows are 8:00 pm with doors opening at 7:30.  Due to the popularity of the shows, which sell out each month, all tickets are now reserved seating and are available three months in advance.  The hour and a half show is for eighteen years and up only, and beer and wine may be purchased with valid ID.

    Danny Jolles

Danny Jolles made his late night debut on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in July 2018, after 8 years of stand up in clubs and colleges.  Danny is best known for playing George on the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.  He has also appeared on The Joel McHale Show, Love, and Splitting Up Together. Movie credits include Ithaca, Patchwork and the lead in the upcoming feature Blowing Up Right Now.

Omar Covarrubias is a magician and comedian who has delighted audiences throughout the greater Los Angeles area for ten years. At nineteen, his

fascination with the art of illusion compelled him to perform on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, where he learned to engage spectators from all walks of life. Covarrubias segued from magic shows to the Los Angeles comedy circuit, performing at   Ice House, Hollywood Laugh Factory, House of Blues, and other notable clubs.  Covarrubias’ routine is not traditional; he incorporates vaudevillian comedy and musical bits while calling forth constant audience participation.   All the while, Covarrubias’ priority is to ensure that everyone enjoys the experience.

“At a party, I always wanted to be the one to break the ice,” he explains. “When people are staring at each other, I was the one to say, ‘Come on guys, let’s do something!’ Similarly, my job as a performer is not done until everyone is smiling and laughing.”

Producer and host Jason Love has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, America’s Got Talent, and over 20 national broadcasts.   He has performed overseas for the troops and on the seas for cruise lines, and was a finalist at the Cabo Comedy Festival.  Jason’s non-profit, Love & Laughter, brings free shows to cancer support communities and others in need.
