    Hillcrest Center for the Arts Presents Live Standup Drive-In Comedy

      THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Live Standup Comedy on the Hill returns Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the regular time of 8:00 pm.  This month the series will be presented live in a brand new Drive-In Edition held in the parking lot of Conejo Creek South at 1300 E Janss Rd in Thousand Oaks, California.  Audience members can enjoy this setting with sound from their car’s FM Radio, or they can stay at home and attend via Zoom or YouTube Live.  August’s lineup includes Brandon Vestal, Graham Elwood and Flip Schultz.  Professional local comedian Jason Love produces this monthly show in collaboration with the Hillcrest Center for the Arts.  The show features a new lineup each month with some of America’s funniest headliners.   There will be stage set up in front of the screen for the Comics and the first few rows will be have microphones installed so the comics can hear the laughter.  There will be stage set up in front of the screen for the Comics and the first few rows will have microphones installed so the comics can hear the laughter.  Those who choose to watch from their homes may laugh or chat with fellow audience members or via YouTube Live.

    Brandon Vestal made his mark in the world of Comedy Competitions and Festivals, winning the Hollywood Comedy Festival, being crowned “Best of the West” at the Detroit Comedy Festival, a becoming a finalist at the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas and a semi-finalist at the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival for two consecutive years.  Brandon was recently named “comedian of the month” this last December on Sirius/XM radio, and released his latest album “Smoooth”.  He has appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Man Up Stand Up, Comedy Time TV, and FOX’s Laughs. 

    Graham Elwood has been a stand-up comic for over 20 years working comedy clubs, colleges and other venues, including the “Late Late Show” on CBS.  Also and actor and playwright, he’s starred in the theatrical plays Speed the Plow, Light Sensitive and Cash Flow and co-wrote the one act play Brothers.

    He directed the award winning feature film “Ear Buds: The Podcasting Documentary” and the award winning short “Hello Junkie.”  His first feature film, “Laffghanistan: Comedy Down Range” is a film about Graham’s first trip telling jokes in a war zone. Graham is Co-creator of the Los Angeles Podcast Festival with Dave Anthony, Chris Mancini, and Andy Wood.     

    When Flip Schultz was eight years old he won a summer camp talent show by performing stand-up comedy.  At 18 he began his career by winning an open mike contest.  He earned his degree in theatre while performing at comedy clubs.  Flip now lives in Los Angeles and tours clubs & colleges all over the country, and throughout the world.

    Producer and host Jason Love has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, America’s Got Talent, and over 20 national broadcasts.   He has performed overseas for the troops and on the seas for cruise lines, and was a finalist at the Cabo Comedy Festival.  Jason’s non-profit, Love & Laughter, brings free shows to cancer support communities and others in need. Currently Jason presents a free daily FaceBook Live show at 5:00pm.

    Tickets are only available online.  Drive in tickets are for a designated parking space that is at least 6 ft. from all other vehicles.  Over-sided vehicles such are RV’s are not permitted. All patrons must remain inside their vehicles during the event. The radio station setting for FM Radio will be provided at the event. Restrooms are available.  Patrons exiting their vehicle to use the restroom must wear a mask at all times when outside their vehicle.   No more than 2 people per vehicle at a time may leave to use the restrooms.   Patrons must maintain 6 ft. of social distancing when traveling to and waiting for the restrooms.  Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized during the event.  There will be no concession sales but guests may bring their own snacks.

    Standup Drive-in Comedy Tickets at the Drive-in are $25 per car.  Viewing price for the show via Zoom and YouTube are $12.00.  After payment, audience members will receive both a Zoom link and a YouTube Live link via email. Those who participate via the Zoom link will have their microphone open so as to provide some love and laughter for the comedians. Log in early at 7:55 pm for a pre-show chat with Jason Love.
