IBEW LOCAL 952 ENDORSES MARTIN HERNANDEZ FOR VENTURA COUNTY SUPERVISOR Third District

case arial, look sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On Monday, see May 23, 2016 IBEW Local 952 announced their endorsement of Martin Hernandez for Ventura County Supervisor, Third District.  Martin Hernandez serves as Chief of Staff for retiring Supervisor Kathy Long and Mayor of the City of Santa Paula.  He brings with him over 25 years of public service and is a veteran of the United Sates Air Force.  Working families can count on Martin to stand up for them and fight for fair wages, access to health care and safe communities for our neighborhoods.

“Martin Hernandez is the only candidate that has a track record of success when it comes to doing what is right for the working middle class”, said Tony Skinner, President of IBEW 952.  “When it came to making an endorsement, there was only one choice – Martin Hernandez. His commitment to service first, ensures that he will put the needs of the communities in the third district over the needs of special interests.”

Raised by migrant parents, Martin was taught the importance of hard work and the value of earning a dollar.  As Mayor of Santa Paula, Martin has worked to make sure that the city’s budget is balanced and that there are reserves so the city can avoid lay-offs or furloughs during the down times.  At the County, Martin has been recognized for his open door policy and advocacy on behalf of constituents, including union workers.   

“Martin Hernandez is the best choice for the Third District because he is the only candidate that has the experience and knowledge base to serve the middle class working families of Ventura County,” said Tony Skinner, President of IBEW 952.  “The members of IBEW 952 know they can count on Martin Hernandez; we know he will stand up for us and fight to ensure there are good union jobs in Ventura County.”

IBEW 952 joins Supervisor John C. Zaragoza, Supervisor Kathy Long and other local elected officials and unions in endorsing Martin Hernandez for Board of Supervisors representing the Third District.  Mayor Hernandez announced his candidacy on March 7, 2016.  Hernandez has dedicated his career to Public Service and has built long-term trusting alliances, both within County Government and in the field, with Community, Government, and Union and Business leaders throughout the district.  He is committed to making sure the people of Ventura County have a voice.

    A good reason why he should be defeated. The incestuous relationship between unions and politicians has to be broken up.
