Narrative:
In the month of November 2021, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Gang Unit received information regarding the illegal manufacturing and sales of assault rifles in the 300 block of Burl Avenue, in Ventura. On December 21, 2021, Craig Dolbec was arrested for various firearms charges.
Detectives contacted Dolbec at his residence in the city of Ventura. Dolbec is a convicted felon and is on active probation for narcotic related offenses.
A search was conducted at Dolbec’s residence. During a search of the residence, indicia of illegal firearm manufacturing, such as 80% AR-15 lowers and other components necessary to make firearms, were located. It appeared Dolbec was in the process of manufacturing two separate assault rifles during the time of the search. Additional evidence of illegal firearm manufacturing and sales was located inside the residence along with drug paraphernalia associated with methamphetamine use. A Winchester .45 caliber long rifle was located inside the residence and was accessible to Dolbec who is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Craig Dolbec was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail Facility. Dolbec was booked for violations of PC 29800(a)(1) Felon in Possession of a Firearm and PC 30600(a) Manufacturing Assault Weapons. Dolbec remains in custody on $240,000 bail.
