Is California suffering a decades-long megadrought?

    ALEX WIGGLESWORTH STAFF WRITER

    California has entered another drought.

But depending on who you ask, the last one may have never really ended.

Some researchers believe the region is actually more than two decades into an emerging “megadrought” — a hydrological event that is on par with the worst dry spells of the past millennium. Except this time, they say, human-caused climate change is driving its severity — and will make it that much harder to climb back out of.

“If this drought was totally due to natural variability, then we would at least have the comfort of knowing at some point, good luck is very likely to show up again, and this is going to end,” said Park Williams, a bioclimatologist and associate professor at UCLA.

“But the knowledge that a fair amount of this current drought is attributable to human-caused climate trends tells us that we may have not seen the worst yet.”

Southern California is a desert. Lack of rain is a constant here. Now, one would think that reasonable people would build ways of storing the rainwater when we actually get it. But the people mis-running the state (looking at you Gov Dementia, Newsolini, and the rest of your ilk) not only refuse to build new dams and reservoirs (there hasn’t been a new public works dam built in CA since about 1960 something), they’re tearing down the ones that we have. As if that wasn’t stupid enough, they’re also spend CA taxpayer dollars for dam removals in other states, such as Oregon. Sheer idiocy!

One of the things that always makes me furious is, when it actually does rain, watching millions of gallons of rainwater flowing out into the sea.

If one reads the tourist placards at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, whoever wrote them up surmised that the ruins were abandoned because of a 500 year drought that the natives described in the drawings and other communications they left behind. If an area has had a 500 year drought once in history, it does not take a giant stretch of imagination to think that a 500 year drought might once again visit an area in geologic history.

All the henny pennies that run around crying that the sky is falling seem to ignore the very well proven fact that about 10,000 years ago North America and Northern Europe and perhaps Northern Asia were covered by glaciers many hundred of feet thick..

Whoa! Where did all the ice go and why? Was it the cooking fires of the CroMagnon that melted all that ice? I doubt it. Some astral or geological phenomenon created the biggest global warming event in the last 15,000 years all without gaseous farting cows or SUVs or air conditioning units.

If one does even the least bit of historical reading, one will find that temperatures have changed periodically at least since the founding of the Roman Empire. Since that date farming records, written observations of weather conditions and periods of food sufficiency and famine have pointed to at least five major swings in global temperature at least in the Northern Hemisphere since the founding of the Roman Empire.

When the Romans invaded England during the Roman Warming Period, they grew wine grapes in Jolly Old Blighty. Try doing that today and see what the banks have to say about the feasibility of wine grapes west of London today. Perhaps in 100 years from now enologists will be raving about the pinot noir from west of London but not so much today.

In 2016 there was published a report about the greening of Earth. It was and is almost totally ignored by scientists lined up to feed at the government trough of money extolling the virtues of keeping Earth cool by us all riding bicycles and eschewing anything other than electrically driven vehicles using electricity generated by the motion of ocean waves. Greening of the Earth because plants love CO2! Agghhhh, heresy. burn the bearers of that news at the stake. Call them deniers. Refuse to invite them to publish or speak of their heresy. Castigate their education and research methodology. Shun them.

Folks, it doesn’t take a whole bunch of reading of accredited authors to find out that climate has been changing at least as long as man has been wondering around. Unfortunately homo erectus didn’t leave fancy weather charts and monitor temperatures in the ionosphere for us to examine or computer modeling but just plain other natural sciences tell us that Earth has gone from warm to cold from dry to wet in the short span of time that man has been roaming its surfaces and all well before all the evil modalities of modern life that the henny pennies curse, of course, all the while availing themselves of the comforts such amenities provide. Ah, yes the peons should ride dirty, crowded, tardy trains while I, who am important, ride in my private 747 jet plane which uses more hydrocarbon fuel in my flight from Burbank Airport to Barcelona, Spain where I am giving a very important speech than 50 private automobiles burning gasoline for a lifetime.

Global weather change is happening. Of course. Just as it has always happened and even if we wipe mankind from the face of the earth, it will happen no matter what we do. Relax and enjoy the warming of the climate. No more foggy June morning. No more wet suits for surfing off the Channel Coast. New species of fish will appear with the water warming. Old species will diminish. Who can predict whether they will be tastes than swordfish or not? Of course species will vanish. Species have vanished without man’s help for millions of years. Every time I read an article about condors I light a candle thanking God for wiping out pterodactyls when He did. Can you imagine the sanctuary we would have to have if pterodactyls were still flying around California? Everybody would have to move to Kansas.

PLEASE don’t expose us to the leftist tripe that is the hallmark of the El Segundo Times…
The only decent reporting they’ve done recently is on the DDT dumping that was done illegally for decades in Santa Monica Bay…
All of their “climate change” articles are political cover for the progressive, Communist left that wishes to destroy the American economy and livelihoods while the Chinese pay them off and continue to pollute and harm the global ecosystem far worse than the USA….
