Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County is starting 2017 by welcoming Jill Shaffer as its new Director of Resource Development.

Jill Shaffer brings a wealth of knowledge and 27 years of diverse non-profit management experience to Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County. Jill began her leadership journey with the  YMCA where she rose through the ranks to become the Executive Director in 2007. More recently, Jill was the Executive Director of the Ventura County Leadership Academy (VCLA), overseeing a nine month academy designed to educate participants about timely regional issues and introducing them to key decision makers from the county’s public, private and nonprofit sectors.

As a long time Ventura Downtown Lions Club member, Jill enjoys giving back to the community. She has a successful history in fundraising and building teams within multiple organizations, thriving on igniting a passion for worthy causes.

“I believe collaborations create a vehicle through which we can embrace the core of our civic capital and enhance the overall economic development in our community,” Jill says, “I relish the opportunity to develop and enhance the resources already utilized within Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County.”

As Director of Resource Development, Jill will develop relationships with sponsors, foundations and individuals while communicating Habitat’s message of building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter to the community of Ventura County. Enhancing relationships with the community will allow Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County to support more families with the opportunity for affordable home ownership and to provide more critical repairs to low income seniors, veterans and disabled homeowners.

“We are thrilled to have Jill join the Habitat team. Jill’s experience, passion and enthusiasm is a great fit with Habitat Ventura County as we build our resources to meet the growing need for decent, affordable housing in our area” Steve Dwyer, Executive Director.

About Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County

Mission: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County is a locally-run and locally-funded affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Over the past 33 years, 62 new home builds have provided homeownership opportunities for families in need and hundreds of homes have been repaired, providing a safe, clean, decent living environment for lower income homeowners.. At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone everywhere deserves a decent place to live. For Habitat’s homeownership program, low- to very-low income families are selected based on their need for housing, ability to repay an affordable mortgage, and willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity. We offer a “hand up,” empowering families who are willing to work hard to achieve their dream of homeownership. Each Habitat for Humanity homeowner invests hundreds of hours to help build their home, and then purchases it with an affordable mortgage. Habitat currently has enough donated properties to build 30 simple, decent homes for families in Ventura County. To build these homes we need donations of time, talents and funding from faith groups, businesses, and individual donors in order to complete 8 homes on Trinity Lane in Santa Paula.
