City Launches
Safe Sidewalks Program
Looking to fast-track sidewalk repairs? Safe Sidewalks is a new cost-sharing initiative that reimburses residents for a portion of sidewalk repairs they complete themselves.
The Safe Sidewalks Program reimburses 50% of the repair costs, up to $2,500 per resident property frontage. Income-qualified residents may receive a match of 75% of repair costs, up to $3,750 per property frontage.
Now accepting applications through March 31, 2022, residents must receive approval prior to starting work with their selected contractor. This program allocates Measure O funding to help expedite repairs and improve safety and accessibility in our neighborhoods.

Clear Brush Ahead of
Fire Season
Now is the time to work on your defensible space in preparation for wildfire season. Creating a buffer zone, hardening your home, and clearing debris around your property can protect you, your family, and your community.
This month, 6,500 property owners in our city’s most vulnerable fire areas received letters reminding them to clear brush away from nearby buildings as part of the Fire Hazard Reduction Program (FHRP). The deadline is May 18, 2021.
Need to dispose of your yard waste? Join us and the Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council for a free community chipping event on Saturday, April 17, from 8am to 2pm at the Poinsettia Pavilion, located at 3451 Foothill Road.
