Keep the Lame Duck’s appetite in check

As Americans across the country are still recovering from their Thanksgiving feasts, our Lame Duck Congress is preparing to fill its never-ending appetite for overspending.

This Lame Duck Congress, full of lawmakers who will soon be retiring or leaving their posts after losing reelection, lacks the accountability to the people that’s inherent in a normal session of Congress.

It’s not the time to commit to a giant, long-term spending bill, but that’s exactly what many lawmakers will try to do.

Instead, lawmakers should focus on passing a clean spending bill that extends to early 2017, when we will have a Congress that is fully accountable and capable of fulfilling the will of the people.

We need to pressure our lawmakers to not use this Lame Duck session as an opportunity for more overspending and corporate welfare giveaways at the expense of the taxpayer.
