Knight takes second debate — Focusing on Local Roots and Experience

CandidatesCornerhealing arial, illness sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>The second debate between Congressman Steve Knight and challenger, Bryan Caforio took place today. The debate, located in Palmdale was hosted by the Antelope Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and covered a number of issues facing local businesses and the residents of a district that encompasses parts of the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valley.

Focusing on his history in a district in which he was raised, Knight discussed his work to find long-term solutions to water storage and supply, his focus on creating and retaining aerospace jobs, and veteran services.

Knight has had a number of bills signed into law by President Obama, including the Small Business Joint Venturing Act, and he recently authored the No Hero Left Untreated Act, which if passed, will serve to help veterans suffering from PTS and other traumatic injuries.

In contrast, Caforio, a Beverly Hills trial attorney, once again failed to talk about his commitment to a region that he relocated to less than one year ago, as well as the pressing issues within the district. He did however mention his commitment to fighting big corporations for the benefit of working families. A campaign talking point that Caforio likes to use, but has been refuted in a recent article by the Los Angeles Times. Click here to read the article.

Steve Knight is a U.S. Army veteran and former officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. He has served the region as a Palmdale City Council member and member of both the California State Assembly and Senate. Throughout his career, Knight has been an advocate for lower taxes on the middle class and job creation, something he continues to work on as a member of Congress.

Steve and his wife, Lily, live in Antelope Valley with their two sons, Christopher and Michael.
