Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
On January 9th, 2020, Detectives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Ventura County Violent Gang Task Force, Ventura County Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit and Ventura County Sheriff’s Gang Unit, concluded a two month long investigation into Frank Rivera. Rivera is a known gang-member and prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition due to previous felony convictions.
Detectives contacted Rivera at his residence along with Gabriel Moreno and a female. The female was later cited and released for a misdemeanor narcotic violation. Detectives executed a search warrant on Rivera and his residence, located in the 1300 Block of Saratoga Avenue, in the City of Ventura. Detectives seized approximately 1711 grams of methamphetamine, 3 unregistered firearms, a bulletproof vest, additional paraphernalia indicative of narcotic sales, and U.S. Currency believed to be derived from narcotic sales.
Rivera was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail facility for violations of HS 11370.1- Possession of a Controlled Substance with a Firearm, HS 11378 – Possession for Sale of a Controlled Substance, PC 24610 – Possession of an Undetectable Firearm, PC 27545 – Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm, PC 29800 – Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and PC 30305 – Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition. Rivera remains in custody with bail set at $3,000,000.
Moreno was booked into custody the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail facility for violations of HS 11378 – Possession for Sale of a Controlled Substance, PC 27545 – Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm, PC 29800 – Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, and PC 30305 – Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition. Moreno was released on $55,000 bond.
