L. Neil Smith’s THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE — The Perils of Milo

.

By L. Neil Smith

Milo Yiannopoulos is a young man of parts. He is decidedly British. His name is decidedly Greek. His mother was Jewish. He was brought up Roman Catholic. He is flamboyantly, explosively gay, a Second Amendment enthusiast, and a libertarian-leaning conservative (or a conservative-leaning libertarian; the situation seems to be fluid) in the best American sense. He is a remarkably well-educated and articulate former editor at Breitbart.com., and a passionate supporter of Donald Trump (whom he calls “Daddy”). Big, straight guys write kiddingly that they want to have his baby. (He had me when he told a young snowflake in the audience that he didn’t give a damn about her feelings.) He is also the best stand-up comedian and social critic — a worthy successor to Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl, and George Carlin — that I have seen in a long time. I would probably have written about him eventually, simply as a nifty phenomenon.

If you doubt me, go to Youtube.com and look him up. His college speeches are his best work, but there are great interviews, too. Be warned that some find his language offensive,

Lately, however, circumstances have made writing about Milo necessary to the defense of free speech. I didn’t mention that Milo has become famous for making speeches (free of charge, usually at the request of young Republican groups) on campuses where the left has violently rioted and colluded with corrupt and cowardly administrations to shut him up. They set fires and smash windows. His principle objective has been to tear down political correctness by getting people to laugh at it. Naturally, his principle opponents and detractors are the terminally politically correct.

Last week somebody dug up some statements he had made that could be torn out of context, dishonestly edited, and willfully misunderstood as advocating pedophilia, of all things, which is absurd (especially with so many prominent Democratic baby-molesters running around free). He is a victim of pedophilia, himself, and has since exposed several pedophiles during his career, even getting one of them jailed.

The smear campaign on Milo is an excellent example of the collusion between the mainstream media, the political establishment, and the alphabet-soup agencies. It came from on high, funded by a left-wing PAC (whose founding members include Scott Dworkin), and was spread by the ostensibly conservative Never-Trump Reagan Battalion, which contributed generously to Utah’s favorite CIA operative (and erstwhile breakfast sandwich), Evan McMullin.

When confronted by Jack Posobiec with a question about his possible ties to the $250,000 used for opposition research on Milo, McMullin neither confirmed nor denied his involvement, simply tweeting: “Never cared much for Nazi punks.”

It is worth noting that this character assassination attempt was preceded by Milo’s appearance on Bill Maher’s “Real Talk”; it appeared that the two provocateurs had reached some kind of strange detante by the end of the interview, but now that the dust has settled, it appears that Maher is attempting to take credit for Milo’s “stumble,” calling him “an emotionally needy Ann Coulter wannabe, trying to make a buck off of the left’s propensity for outrage” and stating that “sunlight is the best disinfectant.”

It is in this spirit that those who stand with Milo have begun to share certain of Maher’s past comments, including his defense of Mary Kay Letourneau (in which he stated that a twelve year old boy cannot be raped by a woman). [https://youtu.be/NAqRWE0WbE8] He continued to defend Letourneau for the next ten years. (Incidentally, the name of the company that produces Bill Maher’s shows is Kid Love Productions [http://www.imdb.com/company/co0093906/]).

When the accusation (of Milo) became public, he found himself surrounded by people less courageous than he is. A major speaking engagement at the

2017 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) was cancelled (to the immense relief of bigots who didn’t want a self-proclaimed “faggot”

speaking from their platform anyway). A book contract with Simon and Schuster (also opposed by the socially retarded) was withdrawn; make what you will of that, my “Progressive” friends. Ultimately, he felt he had to resign from Breitbart. This is too bad. I was looking forward to hearing that speech. I was looking forward to reading that book. I was looking forward to Breitbart every morning with my coffee for the rest of my life. Guess I’ll just have to settle for _RT_. America needs Milo Yiannopoulos, and it is my hope that this nonsense won’t break him, but make him stronger.

Four hundred years ago, during the otherwise glorious reign of Elizabeth I, the “gotcha” game was played a little differently. If you were overheard publicly favoring a semicolon in the wrong place in the _Book of Common Prayer_, instead of a comma, they could arrest you, torture you, and burn you at the stake. Ask a historian. I exaggerate only slightly. The thing is, nobody gave a rat’s ass about the _Book of Common Prayer_; it was just a way of hurting your political enemies.

Another Never-Trumper and popular social commentator has previously told a personal story similar to Milo’s, in which a young boy of thirteen was abused by a man in a position of power. In this figure’s case, it was not a priest who assaulted him, but instead a young adult Boy Scout leader with whom he was alone at camp, and he claims that his “cherry” was not just popped, but “exploded” by his guardian.

This celebrity is one “Uncle” George Takei. In the clip, transcribed here on Heat Street by Ian Miles Cheong [https://heatst.com/culture-wars/george-takei-spoke-glowingly-about-being-molested-as-young-teen-by-older-man/],

he discusses his first sexual experience in a radio chat with Howard Stern. Further clips have surfaced of Takei publicly fondling the genitals of a man who is clearly uncomfortable with the action [http://m.imgur.com/oxhHiRh?r].

This video, however [https://youtu.be/pQLVaQ6ua0M], is perhaps the most disturbing of all, in which Howard Stern, his cohost (who I believe is Robin Quivers), and Gilbert Gottfried have a hearty belly laugh over a case in which two teenagers forced a twelve year old boy to participate in the rape of his mother.

Jokes are jokes; they are not actions. But the outrage over Milo’s anecdote, in which he admitted that he had been abused by a person with power over him, was palpable.

It remains to be seen whether or not the left will disown Bill Maher and Uncle Ernie — I mean,  George Takei — but if it’s any indication that Meryl Streep gave child rapist Roman Polanski a standing ovation [https://youtu.be/WNrsV_o0KYo], and that professional creep Woody Allen still has something like a career [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonder_Wheel_(film)], we’ll not be seeing any consistency from them in the near future.

For now, we, the seekers of truth, must stand with our own. Milo will rise like a phoenix from the ashes of this defeat; he’s too clever and funny to be kept down for long, and his message [https://youtu.be/ywmd8kR-AmI] is far too pertinent to be abandoned.

That’s  where we are today. As I have said many times, Democrats pick up their dead and wounded from the battlefield. Republicans and Libertarians leave them to rot. Until this changes, we’re always going to have a Hillary Clinton or an Elizabeth Warren breathing down our necks.

And we’ll deserve it.
