Great new for the homeless industry of government officials, pundits, lobbyists and special interest. The more government spends to “solve” the homeless problem, the more homeless you have. Could it be the government programs have failed?
“The homeless numbers also increased in all-but-one of the county’s regional Service Planning Areas.
The lone exception was SPA 7, which comprises the area northeast of Long Beach, including Lakewood, Cerritos, Norwalk and Downey. It saw a 10% decline.
The percent increases for the other SPAs were:
- SPA 1 (Lancaster, Palmdale): 44.4% increase;
- SPA 2 (west San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita): 20% increase;
- SPA 3 (Baldwin Park, West Covina, LaVerne): 1% increase;
- SPA 4 (Downtown Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Hollywood): 4.2%;
- SPA 5 (Playa del Rey, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Culver City): 14.2% increase;
- SPA 6 (Crenshaw, Watts, Compton): 36.4% increase; and
- SPA 8 (South Bay, Harbor Area): 4.6% increase.
The 2020 homeless data comes amid a concerted effort by the state over the last couple of years to try to solve what had become California’s most challenging social, economic and heath problem.
LA city’s Proposition HHH and the countywide Measure H, approved in 2016 and 2017 respectively, provided $1.2 billion for permanent supportive housing and hundreds and millions of dollars for supportive and wrap-around services.”
You read that right, billions spent and the problem gets worse. This is government in action. Stop election officials that harm the community and waste money.
