During the months of November and December 2017, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation that led to the seizure of a large quantity of methamphetamine in the City of Ventura.
During the months of November and December 2017, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation involving the sale of large quantities of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was being distributed to various customers throughout Ventura County. Through the investigation, detectives identified 54 year old Douglas Middleton, a City of Ventura resident, as the person responsible for the distribution of narcotics.
On December 14, 2017, detectives obtained a search warrant for Middleton’s residence located in the 300 Block of San Clemente Street in the City of Ventura. During the warrant service, detectives seized approximately 6032 grams or about 13.3 pounds of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine seized is the equivalent of 60,000 doses and has an estimated street value of $350,000.00. Detectives also located evidence linking Middleton to the narcotics as well as evidence indicative of narcotics sales. Middleton was not arrested at the time of the search warrant and detectives continued the investigation.
On February 14, 2018, detectives concluded the investigation involving Middleton. Detectives contacted Middleton in the 300 Block of Hurst Avenue in the City of Ventura. Detectives arrested Middleton and booked him at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for violation of Health and Safety Code section 11378-Possession for sale of a controlled substance. Middleton’s bail was set at $50,000 and he is awaiting court proceedings.
