Attention, Tutors
- Via Zoom, Laubach Board members met October 19th to learn more about how to conduct online ESL classes. A Board member’s student, Patricia, is studying English, and is very well-versed in using different technologies. When the pandemic struck, she wanted instruction to continue and offered her tutor assistance in setting up online classes. Lee and Patricia have been very successful and offer three classes a week at different times of the day to accommodate as many students as possible. If you are interested in learning more about this teaching tool, please let your area coordinator know.
- Due to Covid-19, Laubach Literacy’s face-to-face Tutor Talk groups, training sessions, and regular monthly meetings are cancelled until further notice.
- Thanks to Kendra, a tutor, we now have access to an audio version of the Easy Voter Guide that you are welcome to share with your learners. The full audio version is available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/c – gizzCy0. If you would like to share audio of certain sections of the Easy Voter Guide, you can go to https://tinyurl.com/evgaudio.
- Tutors: Have you considered searching for free ESL posters and worksheets on the Internet, downloading them to your computer or phone, and creating PowerPoint lessons that you can use now or at a future date when you’re actively tutoring again? Because many of us have extra time at home this year, it might be a good idea to build up your teaching repertoire.
- Are you an Amazon shopper? If you are, please consider using Amazon Smile and selecting Laubach Literacy – thanks!
- If you have extra books or Laubach materials that you won’t be using in the foreseeable future, please contact Wendy at [email protected] or call 805-385-9584 and we would be happy to arrange to pick-up your supplies. A future tutor will be happy to use them!
