The League of Women Voters joins in the presentation of Equal Means Equal

VENTURA, CALIFORNIA; January 16, 2018:  The League of Women Voters of Ventura County (LWVVC), a nonpartisan political organization, in collaboration with The Acorn Project, Ventura College, Ventura County Women’s Political Council, Ventura County Women’s Forum Collaborative, Ventura County Reproductive Rights Network, Justice for All, National Organization for Women (NOW), The Coalition for Family Harmony, and the Women’s Intercultural Network/California Women’s Agenda (WIN/CAWA), is proud to present a free screening of the award-winning documentary Equal Means Equal.

Equal Means Equal offers an unflinching look at today’s status of women in the United States by uncovering how women are treated by outdated and discriminatory attitudes that influence seemingly disparate issues, from workplace harassment to domestic violence, rape and sexual assault to the foster care system, and the healthcare conglomerate to the judicial system.

Director, Kamala Lopez, reveals the inadequacy of present laws that claim to protect women, ultimately presenting a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.

The screening is scheduled for Thursday, February 8 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Ventura College, Applied Sciences Building (ASC 150), 4667 Telegraph Road, Ventura, CA 93003.

Members of public are invited to attend at no charge.  To register your attendance, please visit http://www.eventbrite.com/e/qual-means-equal-free-screening-tickets-39713368755.
