Ojai chef and author Randy Graham has a new cookbook, Ojai Valley Slow Cooker Cookbook

In the introduction to this new cookbook, Randy says:
This cookbook is written for my single mom friends and for all of my friends who have expressed a need to eat nutritiously, but don’t have the time to plan, prep, and cook after a long day of work. It boasts 19 tried-and-true slow cooker double recipes. Double, you ask? What do you mean by double?
Each of the first 19 recipes contain both “quicker” and “nutritious” versions of the same recipe. The Chili Verde recipe, for example, includes a “quicker” version with eight ingredients that you toss into the slow cooker, stir once, cover, and return hours later to a tasty dinner. It takes 5 minutes or less to prep. The more “nutritious” version takes about 45 minutes to prep and, instead of using canned or frozen ingredients, calls for fresh ingredients such as Poblano and jalapeño chiles, onions, garlic, cilantro, and tomatillos.
The quick versions can be prepped and placed into the slow cooker in 10 minutes or less. Turn on the slow cooker and forget about it! The more nutritious versions take anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes to prepare and, because they use fresh ingredients, are more nutritious. Both recipe versions are tasty. Both will put a smile on your face.
In addition to the above, there are 3 dessert recipes. Although not necessarily as quick or nutritious as the original 19, they are easy and fun. For example, who would think to make slow cooker apple butter that lasts all week long in the refrigerator? And Bananas Foster. Making this classic dessert is super easy and tastes as good if not better than that made on the hot stove top. Don’t forget to try Dulce de Leche. Make it as you have time and use it all week long for cookies, as a topping for ice cream, or just as a tasty spoon-by-spoonful treat after dinner.
Every effort has been taken to create recipes that are distinctly different from one another and that will easily serve four adults. After making one or two recipes you and your family will be chanting my mantra, “Eat well. Eat local. Eat fresh!”
