|The Ojai Performing Arts Theater(OPAT) is cancelling its planned summer production of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.”
In a note sent to the cast and crew Director Michael Addison, wrote:
“I deeply regret that I have to tell you that our proposed production of “Much Ado About Nothing” has been cancelled. A perfect storm of interrelated problems has hit us that would severely compromise the quality that has always been the hallmark of OPAT productions.
“I had such high hopes for this production, knowing of the talent and commitment those already cast would have brought to the work, and my hopes were enlarged by the potential I saw in the auditions presented last Saturday. However, reality now overshadows what we had envisioned, and dreams are deferred.
“My thanks to all of you who were ready to go on this path with me, and my hope that the future will create another opportunity for us to make theatre together.”
Planning is underway for the 2020 season which be announced later in the year. Any questions should be directed to Stuart Crowner, producer, at [email protected].
