LULAC Veterans Recognition Dinner Video

The Keynote Speaker was Commander Rafael A. Miranda, Commanding Officer of the Naval Construction Training Center Port Hueneme. As you’ll see when you view this 1.5-hour video, Commander Miranda is an outstanding public speaker who kept us enraptured with his naval career from a Naval Ship’s Officer to becoming a Seabee Officer. He mastered seriousness generously spiced with rations of humor.

It was a great event again, honoring all Veterans a free dinner, entertainment by the Santa Paula High School Band, Mrs. Lorraine McDonald, an actress and opera singer thrilled us with her professional rendition of the National Anthem, then leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  The Ventura County Firefighters Association treated us with a delicious BBQ of Tri-tip, chicken, chili beans, rolls and salad.

The Coffee Bean on Victoria Avenue in Ventura donated the coffee, students from Santa Paula High School earned public service credits by serving the veterans and guests, as well as clearing the tables and bringing desert.

The Ventura County Disabled American Veterans Chapter #24 contributed $250 towards the meal and LULAC State and Ventura County District #17 paid for all other costs.
